January 06 Newsletter: New at DF Online Store & DF Website
Among Renea Nielsen’s responsibilities as DF program specialist is fulfilling orders from the online store. She is able to send out most orders on the day she receives them. Now back in stock: Artisti fra cielo e terra, evocative photographs of art kites in flight by Hans Silvester, with introduction by Caterina Capelli (translated into English by Drachen). And don’t miss The Treasured Album of China: Weifang’s Kite Culture, available only in limited quantities and selling fast.
Drachen recently revamped the Kite History section of its website: look here for timelines and links, in reverse chronological order, to the many articles from the Drachen Foundation Kite Journal on historical topics. Dave Lang has contributed a new Parafoil Development Timeline, which he offers as a “work in progress.” Scott Skinner comments on Tom Tucker’s Bolt of Fate (did Ben Franklin really fly that kite?) in the same section. Reaction to both postings is invited, and may be directed to information@drachen.org. You can find hardcover copies of Bolt of Fate at the DF Online Store for the very low price of only six dollars.
